Hijacked Fuel Trucks from our Oil Dependence

“America is addicted to oil.” Bush is famous for saying this during his State of the Union in 2006. Following this shocking comment for a president who’s shown his support for oil companies in so many ways, he began to talk to the country about the possibilities of Hydrogen as an energy source. It’s too far out, electric vehicles are the solution.

Even if they are still using coal, America is the middle east of coal and we needn’t worry about foreign dependence on coal. To fill up an electric vehicle’s batteries, it requires much less an energy usage and costs pennies compared to our nation’s $4.00 per gallon gas prices.

These things aren’t new, nobody should be shocked by the statements being made thus far. It’s an interesting little idea that’s got me going. What about this dependence on oil? What could we possibly see in the near future with prices skyrocketing.

America could soon see a correlation in oil prices to hijacked gas tankers. People are going to become desperate, and as gas prices extend beyond purchasable levels, consumers might stand up and band together. It may be a little far fetched, but we could see consumers of oil banding together to essentially steal oil. From everything to pumping gas without paying to possibly even hijacking a fuel tanker.

Hijacked and stripped of essentials, the gas would be split among a population. When would we see this terrible act of desperation? The potential for hijacked fuel tankers comes to mind when gasoline approaches the double digits from $9 to $10 per gallon. Move away from your oil dependence, it’s all you can do.
